While installing Skyfence Cloud Discovery tool, you might encounter error "Failed installing your license. Please contact technical support". One of the reasons for license failures is due to lack of write permission for windows/domain user for the directory/folder where Cloud Discovery Tool is installed. Usual directory of installation for Skyfence Cloud Discovery is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\CloudDiscovery" on Windows 64 bit and "C:\Program Files\CloudDiscovery" on Windows 32 bit.
There are two ways to correct this error:
- Assign write or full permissions (Read, Write and Modify) for the local or Windows domain user used in installation.
- Copy license.xml (Skyfence Cloud Discovery License file supplied to you by email) manually to installation folder ( "C:\Program Files (x86)\CloudDiscovery" on Windows 64 bit and "C:\Program Files\CloudDiscovery" on Windows 32 bit). Relaunch Cloud Discovery tool after copying the license file manually.
If you still encounter further issues with license file after following above steps, it is an indication that there might be an issue with the contents of license file itself. Please contact Skyfence Technical Support to open a support ticket.
